No Typical Girl Look around. My feet are barely even on the ground. I'm hearing all these worldly sounds. Can't drown them out. Everything, And everyone telling me who to be. Hollywood and magazines, Controlling me. chorus: Trying to wrap me all up in the ways of the world. But they don't understand I'm no typical girl. It is time to make my own decisions. Taking control of this life, I am living. Can't you see? There's only one girl I'm gonna be. Don't care about society, And its hold on me chorus: Trying to wrap me all up in the ways of the world. But they don't understand I'm no typical girl. It is time to make my own decisions. Taking control of this life, bridge: I'm not gonna be a victim of this whole scheme. I'm not gonna hide behind a photo-shopped me. chorus: Trying to wrap me all up in the ways of the world. But they don't understand I'm no typical girl. It is time to make my own decisions. Taking control of this life, I am living.

17 Below 03:16
17 Below Seventeen below, wrapped in scarves and woollen mittens. Lacing their skates as the snowflakes gently descend. Glide side-by-side, hand-in-hand, in the light of the moon. Stare at the stars and my heart cries, "Life's like a box of chocolates." Seventeen below, wouldn't you know there's a hole in my mitten. My lips are chapping, eyelashes batting away the snow. My toes are cold in these skates, I don't think they fit me. Down on all fours and my heart cries, "Life's like a box of chocolates." Bridge: Spring break, road trip, Flat tire, carsick. Slow dance, romance, Sidelined, I'm alone. "Life's like a box of chocolates."

Painting Pictures I've been painting pictures in my head, Of a fairytale with a happy end. Although it's not reality, A childish mentality, I'm still painting pictures in my head. chorus: Dream on, Nothing can take you away, From the place that you create. You've been leaving all your thoughts unsaid, Afraid of looking like a fool instead. Imagine you're standing tall, That your back's not against the wall, Just keep painting pictures in your head. chorus: Dream on, Nothing can take you away, From the place that you create. Bridge: Cinderella just waiting there, For Prince Charming with gorgeous hair. Snow White's picturing her True Love. Ariel longs for the world above. Giselle's been dreaming of a True Love's kiss. chorus: Dream on, Nothing can take you away, From the place that you create. Dream on, dream on, dream on. Dream on, dream on, dream on. chorus: Dream on, Nothing can take you away, From the place that you create. Dream on. (I've been painting pictures in my head.)

For A Little While When I look in your eyes, I wonder what it was like. Were you loved, were you liked, did you belong? When I look at your face, I wonder, What makes you cry so long? chorus: And I wish you could walk in my shoes And feel the love that I get to, For a little while. And I wish you could borrow my skin And feel the joy I have within, For a little while. For a little while. When you look in my eyes, I hope you feel what it's like, To be loved, to be liked, to belong. When you look at my face, I wonder, Do you know my smile's for you? chorus: And I wish you could walk in my shoes And feel the love that I get to, For a little while. And I wish you could borrow my skin And feel the joy I have within, For a little while. For a little while. And I wish you could walk in my shoes And feel the love that I get to, For a little while. And I wish you could borrow my skin And feel the joy I have within, For a little while. For a little while. And I wish you could walk in my shoes And feel the love that I get to, For a little while. For a little while. For a little while.

When In Rome 03:16
When In Rome Another day, another dollar, Another pocketful of change. Countless days and countless hours. A mason jar sits on the counter, Beside a photograph of Rome. And I toss my tips inside. Someday I'll get there. Chorus: Gonna buy a ticket just one way. I'm so ready to go. Nothing here to make me stay. But I am broke. One more danish, One more latte. I'll just dip into the jar, Who cares, what's a couple of toonies? But I'll still get there. Chorus: Gonna buy a ticket just one way. I'm so ready to go. Nothing here to make me stay. But I am broke. Bridge: Piazza Navona, The Colosseum, Gelato. Chorus: Gonna buy a ticket just one way. I'm so ready to go. Nothing here to make me stay. Gonna buy a ticket just one way. I'm so ready to go. Nothing here to make me stay. So I'm saving up my nickels, Until I get there, Someday.

about

JansenSisters Calgary, Alberta

Driven to raise money to go to DisneyLand, the JansenSisters honed their harmonies by busking. At 14, Cassidy taught herself to play guitar and the siblings ousted Dad from the band. In two years, the girls have incorporated the uke, mandolin, cajon, upright bass, and harmonica into their set. They write songs that reflect their life, with the hope of inspiring and humouring their audience. ... more
